About

DECA UTSC was established in 2004 and represents the largest chapter offered by the three University of Toronto campuses. Our primary goal is to foster a platform of opportunity forthe business leaders of tomorrow by immersing them into an engaging, interactive network of ambitious and passionate students that are inspired by each other’s successes through conferences and competitions. In the past, DECA UTSC has achieved these goals by hosting annual workshop seminars and by competing at all regional and provincial tournaments.

DECA UTSC operates under the umbrella of DECA Inc., an incorporated organization that oversees the high school division (DECA) in both Canada and the United States, and the university divisions: DEX (Delta Epsilon Chi) in the United States, and DECA U in Canada. DECA Inc. chapters operate in over 4,500 high schools and 200 colleges/universities across the U.S.A., Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada and most recently in Germany. The entire DECA network comprises more than 185,000 members (172,000 high school and 13,000 college/university members). DECA UTSC remains as one of the five largest chapters in Ontario, and membership continues to grow rapidly today.

Mission: To encourage and facilitate out of classroom learning, and to equip students with key skills to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Vision: To promote DECA’s presence at UTSC by actively engaging members in competitive events as well as professional development opportunities.

Civic Consciousness: DECA UTSC places great emphasis on giving back to the community, and helping to preserve the environment. For the 2011-2012 year, members will partake in numerous community-hosted events in support of various causes such as the CIBC Run for the Cure. More importantly, DECA UTSC is hosting several of its own events such as Sweep the Streets, a Virtual Food Drive, a Winter Coat Drive and many more! Emphasis this year is placed on empowering members to organize these events, hence we have created the Civic Consciousness Ambassador Program.
